Sew… I don’t normally take part is sewing challenges as I usually don’t hear about them until it’s too late to enter or completely forget about them until I’ve run out of time to start sewing. Now I’m into bullet journaling I’ve dedicated a page to “sewing challenges” so hopefully I will be more organised and can enter more!
When Minerva Crafts sent me this pink and green denim to review visions of a watermelon inspired dress instantly jumped into my head. I love the Tilly and the Buttons Cleo and have made a few, three!, already so knew this was the perfect pattern as the Cleo is super fun. You can read my full review of the fabric and see more pictures of my watermelon Cleo here.
I had spotted the #sewingthescene challenge on Instagram hosted by @theunfinishedseamstress and had lots of ideas for outfits inspired by Dirty Dancing and then realised my watermelon was the perfect take on “I carried a watermelon”. I even bought a watermelon for some fun boomerangs! Unfortunately I can’t seem to upload them into the post.
Here are the other plans I had for some Dirty Dancing inspired outfits. I’ll definitely be adding these to my “to sew” list, another page in my bullet journal which is very quickly becoming full of future sewing plans!
Obviously I had to include the “I carried a watermelon dress” which is kinda similar to the latest French Navy Orla I made with the stripe blocking.
And of course I couldn’t leave out final dress. I would pick the Tilly and the Buttons Lilou dress with a full cycle skirt.
What’s movies inspire your sewing plans?
